Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Amatal (the "Site") is operated by Amatal LLC ("Amatal," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Site and everything on it. By accessing the Site or using any assessment, calculator, or other tool made available on it, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Eligibility and Minors
You may use the Site only if you can form a binding contract with Amatal LLC and only in compliance with these Terms and all applicable law.
Some assessments reference standards developed for adult populations and are not appropriate for children or adolescents. Where an assessment has a stated age range, results outside that range may be unreliable or invalid. Anyone under 18 should use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and should not perform physical testing without appropriate adult supervision.
2. Informational Purpose Only
All content on the Site — including assessments, calculators, scoring tables, percentile rankings, classifications, derived metrics such as fitness age, explanatory articles, and reference material — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.
Nothing on the Site constitutes medical, clinical, diagnostic, nutritional, rehabilitative, coaching, legal, or professional advice of any kind, and nothing on the Site is intended to create a professional relationship of any kind between you and Amatal.
3. Not Medical Advice
The Site is not a medical device, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or health condition, and has not been reviewed or approved by any regulatory authority.
Results produced by the Site are not a substitute for evaluation by a qualified physician, physical therapist, registered dietitian, or other licensed healthcare professional. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you have read or calculated on the Site.
If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
4. Results Are Estimates
Assessments on the Site score your inputs against reference data drawn from published research, standards, and normative tables. We identify our sources on the relevant assessment pages. Even so, every result should be understood as an estimate, for the following reasons among others:
- Reference populations are finite and specific. A norm derived from one population — by age, sex, training history, sport, occupation, geography, or era — may not describe you.
- Predictive equations carry inherent error. Estimates of maximal oxygen uptake, one-repetition maximum, body fat percentage, and similar values have known standard errors that apply to any individual result.
- Field testing is sensitive to conditions. Timing method, surface, footwear, altitude, temperature, hydration, fatigue, technique, motivation, measurement precision, and tester experience all affect outcomes.
- Where published data is incomplete, we say so. Some ranges are interpolated or estimated rather than directly measured, and these are flagged on the assessments where they occur.
Percentiles, classifications, tiers, and comparative rankings describe how a measurement compares to a stated reference group. They are not a measure of your health, and a low result is not a diagnosis.
5. Physical Risk and Assumption of Risk
Many assessments described on the Site involve strenuous physical activity, including maximal or near-maximal effort. This carries inherent risk of injury, illness, or, in rare cases, serious harm or death.
Consult a physician before undertaking any fitness test or exercise program — particularly if you are new to exercise, are pregnant or postpartum, are recovering from injury or surgery, or have or may have any cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, musculoskeletal, or other health condition.
You are solely responsible for deciding whether a given test is appropriate for you, for performing it safely, and for stopping if you experience pain, dizziness, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, or any other warning sign. You perform any test entirely at your own risk. Amatal does not supervise, administer, or oversee any assessment you choose to perform.
6. Not for Selection, Clinical, or Employment Decisions
Certain assessments on the Site reference standards used by military, law enforcement, tactical, athletic, or occupational organizations. These are reproduced for informational and preparatory purposes only.
Always refer to the current official publication of the governing organization, which may have changed since our source material was published.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it;
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, mine, or systematically extract data, reference tables, scoring logic, or content from the Site by automated means, except by a search engine operating within the limits of our robots.txt;
- Copy, reproduce, republish, mirror, sell, license, or commercially exploit any part of the Site, including its assessments, scoring tables, or reference data, without our prior written permission;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the underlying formulas, thresholds, or source code of any calculator, other than through ordinary use;
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security, access control, or rate-limiting feature of the Site;
- Use the Site to develop a competing product, or to train, fine-tune, or evaluate a machine learning model, without our prior written permission;
- Misrepresent your affiliation with Amatal, or present Site content as an official standard of any organization.
8. Accounts
Some features of the Site may require an account. Where they do, you agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials confidential, and to accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at the address in Section 20 if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe has breached these Terms, as described in Section 16.
9. Intellectual Property
The Site and its contents — including the calculators, their interface and presentation, the arrangement and expression of scoring tables and reference data, explanatory text, charts, design, and the Amatal name and logo — are owned by Amatal LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Site for your own non-commercial purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. No licence is granted to any Amatal trademark.
Underlying scientific data, published norms, formulas, and standards remain the property of their original authors and publishers. We claim no ownership of the underlying research we cite, and we identify our sources on the relevant assessment pages.
10. Your Content
Values you enter into a calculator are used to produce your result. If you submit content to us — through a contact form, a feature request, feedback, or otherwise — you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it for the purpose of operating and improving the Site. Do not send us confidential information you do not wish us to use on that basis.
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Custom Calculator Development Services
Amatal LLC offers commissioned development of assessments, calculators, and related tools for third parties. The following applies to those services, in addition to any written agreement between Amatal and the client, which controls in the event of conflict:
- Deliverables are built to the specification, standards, source material, and reference data supplied or approved by the client. Amatal does not independently validate client-supplied standards.
- Amatal provides no warranty that any deliverable is fit for a particular purpose, complies with any regulatory, professional, accreditation, or legal requirement, or is suitable for clinical, diagnostic, safety-critical, employment, or selection use.
- The client is solely responsible for determining whether and how a deliverable is deployed, for how results are interpreted and communicated, for supervising any physical testing conducted using it, and for obtaining any required professional, legal, or regulatory review.
- Engaging Amatal does not create a professional, clinical, advisory, or fiduciary relationship, and Amatal does not act as a consultant on exercise prescription, medical screening, or health assessment.
12. Third-Party Sources and External Links
The Site cites and describes research, standards, and normative data published by third parties. Citation does not imply that those authors, publishers, or organizations endorse, are affiliated with, or have reviewed the Site.
The Site may link to external websites we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, or practices of any third-party site, and a link does not constitute endorsement.
13. No Warranty
We make substantial effort to source our standards accurately and to describe their limitations honestly. Nevertheless, the Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of transcription errors, calculation errors, or omissions, or that any published standard we rely upon is itself free of error or has not been superseded by more recent research.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Amatal LLC and its members, officers, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages — including personal injury, death, property damage, lost profits, or loss of data — arising out of or relating to your access to or use of the Site, any assessment or result obtained through it, any decision made in reliance on it, or any deliverable produced under Section 11.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which a claim is based and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain limitations of liability or exclusions of warranty, so some of the above may not apply to you.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Amatal LLC and its members, officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of your use of the Site, your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or any injury you sustain or cause in the course of performing an assessment described on the Site.
16. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or if we discontinue the Site or any part of it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 9, 13, 14, 15, 18, and 19 — will continue to apply.
17. Changes to These Terms and to the Site
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted, and the date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We may also add, change, or remove assessments, features, or content at any time, including where updated research supersedes a standard we previously published.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your own jurisdiction, where those laws cannot be waived by agreement.
19. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Amatal regarding the Site, and supersede any prior understanding.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in force and the unenforceable provision is applied to the greatest extent permitted.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
20. Contact
