Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Amatal LLC ("Amatal," "we," "us," or "our") collects when you visit amatal.io (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. Amatal LLC is the data controller for the purposes of this Policy. Using the Site is also subject to our Terms of Service.
1. The Short Version
The assessments do not send us your measurements. When you enter your age, sex, weight, times, reps, or body measurements into a calculator, that information is processed in your browser to produce your result. It is not transmitted to us, and we do not store it.
We collect ordinary website analytics, and we collect what you choose to give us — a message through our contact form, an email address for a mailing list, or account details if you create an account. That is the whole of it. We do not sell personal information.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Contact form. If you write to us, we collect your name, email address, the content of your message, and any other details you choose to include. Submissions may be stored in our website database as well as sent to us by email.
- Mailing list. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name.
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address, a securely hashed password, and any profile details you provide.
- Saved assessment results. If you choose to save results to your account, we store the values you entered and the results produced — which may include age, sex, height, weight, body measurements, and performance data.
- Business enquiries. If you contact us about commissioned calculator development, we collect the contact and business details you provide.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we and our analytics providers automatically receive certain technical information when you visit:
- IP address (which may be truncated or anonymised by the analytics provider)
- Browser type and version, operating system, device type, and screen size
- Pages viewed, time spent, and the order in which pages were visited
- Referring URL and, where applicable, general geographic region inferred from IP address
- Date and time of access
What we do not collect
We do not collect payment card details through the Site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children as described in Section 11. And, as stated above, calculator inputs are not transmitted to us unless you are signed in and choose to save a result.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them for the following purposes:
| Type | Purpose | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Core site function, security, and — if you have an account — keeping you signed in | Amatal / WordPress |
| Analytics | Understanding how the Site is used, which pages are visited, and how visitors arrive | Automattic (Jetpack); Google Analytics where enabled |
| Preferences | Remembering choices such as consent settings | Amatal |
Strictly necessary cookies are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the Site. Where you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, non-essential cookies are set only with your consent, which you may give or withdraw at any time through the consent banner or by contacting us.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect how the Site works.
4. How We Use Information
- To operate, maintain, and secure the Site, and to diagnose technical problems
- To understand how the Site is used so we can improve it and decide what to build next
- To respond to your messages and business enquiries
- To provide account features, including saving and retrieving your assessment results
- To send you emails you have asked to receive, and to allow you to unsubscribe
- To detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, scraping, or breaches of our Terms of Service
- To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use it for profiling or behavioural advertising.
5. Legal Bases (EEA and UK Visitors)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and analytics, for marketing emails, and for storing assessment results to your account.
- Contract — for providing account features you have signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — for site security, abuse prevention, and responding to messages you send us. We balance these against your rights and interests.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
6. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose information only as follows:
- Service providers who process information on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions — our web host, Automattic (Jetpack statistics and security), Google (analytics and font delivery, where enabled), and our email service provider.
- Legal and safety disclosures, where we are required to comply with applicable law, a court order, or lawful request, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers, if Amatal LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
7. International Transfers
Amatal LLC is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and elsewhere. If you are in the EEA or the UK, this means your information may be transferred outside your country.
Where we make such transfers, we rely on appropriate safeguards — including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or a provider's certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You may contact us for more information about the safeguards in place.
8. How Long We Keep Information
- Contact form messages — kept while we handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
- Mailing list — kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Account and saved results — kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the associated data, other than anything we are required to retain by law.
- Analytics — retained according to the provider's retention settings, in aggregated or pseudonymised form.
- Server logs — retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, restricted administrative access, and brute-force protection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
EEA and UK
Subject to the conditions in applicable law, you have the right to request access to your personal information; to have inaccurate information corrected; to have information erased; to restrict or object to processing; to receive your information in a portable format; and to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
California
Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and disclosed; to request deletion; to request correction; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
Other US states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and Texas, among others — have comparable rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising and profiling. We extend these rights to all US residents regardless of state.
How to exercise your rights
Write to us at contact@amatal.net. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorised agent where the law allows.
11. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, or, in the EEA and the UK, from anyone under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it. As noted in our Terms of Service, anyone under 18 should use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
12. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers vary in how they signal tracking preferences, and there is no common standard for responding to "Do Not Track." We do respect the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where your browser sends one, treating it as a valid opt-out request under applicable US state privacy laws.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site links to external websites — including sources for the research and standards our assessments rely on. We do not control those sites, and this Policy does not apply to them. Review their privacy policies before providing information.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the most recent revision. Where changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice — and, where required, ask for your consent again.
15. Contact
Questions about this Policy, or requests concerning your personal information, can be sent to contact@amatal.net.
