Jackson & Pollock 3-Site Measurement Guide

How This Calculator Works

This calculator estimates your body fat percentage using the Jackson & Pollock 3-Site Method, a widely used skinfold (calipers) technique that measures subcutaneous fat at specific body locations. It is known for offering a strong balance between simplicity and accuracy.

Step 1: Take Skinfold Measurements

  • Men: Chest, Abdomen, Thigh
  • Women: Triceps, Suprailiac, Thigh

Measurements are taken using calipers in millimeters (mm). Each site should be measured 2–3 times and averaged for better accuracy.

Step 2: Calculate Body Density

Men: Density = 1.10938 − (0.0008267 × Σ3) + (0.0000016 × Σ3²) − (0.0002574 × age)
Women: Density = 1.0994921 − (0.0009929 × Σ3) + (0.0000023 × Σ3²) − (0.0001392 × age)

(Σ3 = sum of the three skinfold measurements)

Step 3: Convert to Body Fat %

Body Fat % = (495 ÷ Density) − 450

This final step uses the Siri equation to convert body density into body fat percentage.

Disclaimer:
This Jackson & Pollock 3-site body fat calculator provides an estimate based on skinfold measurements taken with calipers. Results may vary depending on measurement technique, caliper quality, and individual differences in fat distribution. This method estimates subcutaneous fat and may not fully reflect total body fat.
